President Trump Announces New Chief of Staff on Twitter

President Donald Trump has named Homeland Security Secretary General John F. Kelly as his new Chief of Staff, replacing Reince Priebus who has served in the position since Trump was sworn in on January 20th.

Kelly was serving as Homeland Security Secretary until Trump asked him to serve as his Chief of Staff. There's no word on who might replace Kelly at Homeland.

“I am pleased to inform you that I have just named General/Secretary John F Kelly as White House Chief of Staff,” Trump tweeted on Friday. “He is a Great American and a Great Leader. John has also done a spectacular job at Homeland Security. He has been a true star of my Administration."

The President thanked Priebus for his service and for his help in helping the administration during its first few months.

"I would like to thank Reince Priebus for his service and dedication to his country. We accomplished a lot together and I am proud of him! " Trump tweeted.

The announcement comes following a public fight between Priebus and newly appointed White House communication director Anthony Scaramucci after Scaramucci accused the chief of staff of leaking damaging information about him to the media.
