Over 30 People Overdose In One Day At Connecticut Park

Over 30 people overdosed on what Connecticut authorities believe is synthetic marijuana at a park in New Haven between Tuesday (August 14) night and Wednesday afternoon. No deaths were reported, but at least two people suffered life-threatening reactions to the drugs.

Police arrested one man in connection with the overdoses near New Haven Green, which is not far from Yale University, and believe that people were using K2 that had been laced with chemicals such as fentanyl.

“We are asking people to not come down to the Green to purchase what is K2. Clearly, there is a bad batch,” New Haven Police Chief Anthony Campbell said.

They are awaiting the blood test results from the victims so they can determine exactly what they ingested.

Police have not identified the man they took into custody, but the New Haven Register reports that he is 37-years-old and was "known" by local authorities.

This is the second instance of a mass overdose at the park. On July 4th over one dozen people were treated after overdosing on drugs.
