Hunter Hayes teamed up with one of the special guests on his ongoing “Red Sky Tour” to release a reimagined version of “Feelings.” Now, Hayes blends Loren Gray’s voice into the remix. The pair released “Feelings (Can I Be Honest?)” on Thursday (May 25).
The release comes shortly after Hayes teased the new version on his social media channels, including posting a video from a recent tour date from a moment that they took the stage together. He hinted in his caption, “Collab? 👀,” spurring anticipation from eager commenters. Gray replied in the comments, “(:🎶can’t wait !!” It wasn’t long before the two artists revealed their collaboration and its release date.
“I’m SO excited to tell you Feelings (Can I Be Honest) with [Loren Gray] is OUT NOW!” Hayes wrote in an Instagram caption on Thursday. “It’s been so fun getting to sing this together every night on tour and it was a blast to work on this fun new version of the song. …I cannot wait for you to hear it!”
The collaboration comes after the long-awaited release of Hayes’ latest full-length album, Red Sky, which made its debut last month. The project includes “Missing You,” “Lonely Loves Me,” “Friend,” “Someone Will” and other fan-favorites throughout the track list.
“The road to Red Sky has been one of the most life-changing adventures of my human experience. So many challenges and so much growth required to dive deeper and reach higher,” Hayes reflected as he shared a series of photos on Instagram when he released the album. “I traveled around the world in search for what the purpose of this album was and what my role was in making this music. I’m so grateful to make music for people who champion honesty, share authenticity and create a safe space for vulnerability. We’ve had incredible chats around life lessons and how to be human. We’ve shared our nerd sides and embraced what makes us all unique. You’ve always encouraged me to push myself out of my comfort zones and you raise the bar for challenging the rules and for that, I’m deeply grateful.”
