A 'dead' woman who banged on her casket during her wake, a new lead in the search for the long lost Amber Room, and a suspected showdown between fighter jets and a UFO were among the strange and unusual stories to cross our desk this past week.
The legendary Amber Room was back in the news this past week as the discovery of a previously unknown railway track at a Nazi bunker complex in Poland sparked speculation that it could ultimately lead to the elusive lost treasure. Located in the Polish town of Mamerski, the find was made possible following a deforestation effort in the area, which led to a fresh examination of the base's remnants. With the location being a German stronghold during WWII, it has been theorized that the railway may be connected to the apocryphal Nazi 'gold train,' which is said to have been stuffed with treasures, such as the gold and amber paneling pilfered from a Russian palace, and hidden at the close of the war.

This past week featured a particularly eerie story out of Ecuador, where a woman's wake came to a sudden stop when her family discovered that she was actually still alive and banging on the inside of the casket for help. The unsettling incident began when Bella Montoya's son brought her to the hospital after she suffered what is believed to have been a stroke. Unable to revive the unconscious woman, doctors declared her dead and handed her body over to her family for burial. However, things took a wondrous turn at her wake later that day when they heard a commotion coming from her coffin and, to their profound surprise, found that Montoya had not passed away.

Perhaps the most compelling story of the week came by way of Michigan, where multiple witnesses reported seeing a pair of fighter jets engaged in what they described as a "dog fight" with a UFO. The remarkable incident began when Christopher Bilbrey and three friends suddenly heard the thunderous sound of the aircraft appearing in the sky over them in the city of Bad Axe. Wondering what the jets were doing overhead, their curiosity was compounded when they observed a metallic disc hovering in front of the sun. Amazingly, Bilbrey said, the fighter jets attempted to engage with the object on three occasions, including firing anti-missile flares, before departing the scene.
