A woman who experienced a bizarre dual animal attack, a video purportedly showing an infamous Malaysian ghost, and an alien invasion in Peru that turned out to be a clever hoax were among the weird and wondrous stories to cross our desk this week.
An infamous Malaysian 'vampire ghost' known as a pontianak popped up in the news twice this past week, beginning with a police officer who claimed to have filmed the unsettling spirit while out on patrol. The chilling footage, which went viral on social media in the country, featured what appeared to be a figure dressed in white and emitting an unnerving wail. Later in the week, a Malaysian influencer caused something of a stir when she shared a series of photos from her vacation and the internet celebrity's fans noticed what seemed to be a curious figure lurking in the background of the otherwise innocuous pictures. As with the officer's footage, the interloper was suspected of being a pontianak by virtue of its long white dress.

A rather strange saga unfolded this past week in Peru, where residents of a village found themselves being terrorized by suspected aliens that were later revealed to be mischievous miners. The odd case began when people living in a community in the district of Alto Nanay reported being tormented by mysterious beings that possessed the ability to levitate. After one of the eerie interlopers attacked a teenage girl, the villagers called upon the authorities to put an end to the unsettling situation. In response, the Peruvian government dispatched a team of investigators who quickly determined that the 'aliens' were actually a group of men who hoaxed the 'invasion' in order to frighten the community while they conducted an illegal mining operation in a nearby jungle.

By far the most bizarre story of the week came by way of Texas, where a woman was attacked by both a snake and a hawk at the same time. While mowing her lawn one afternoon, Peggy Jones was stunned when a snake suddenly fell from the sky and wrapped itself around her arm in an aggressive fashion. Her attempt at ridding herself of the reptile wound up exacerbating the situation as it caught the attention of a hawk that had presumably intended to eat the animal, but inadvertently dropped it onto the unfortunate woman. This led to the bird of prey repeatedly swooping down and clawing at Jones' arm until it finally snatched the snake and flew away, leaving her both bloody and bewildered by the very weird dual animal attack that had just befallen her.
